Welcome

SHARP (Scottish Heart and Arterial Disease Risk Prevention) is a registered Scottish charity founded in 1988 by a group of doctors and nurses to tackle the problem of premature illness and death due to cardiovascular disease.

SHARP exists not only to heighten awareness that over half of all deaths in Scotland are due to cardiovascular disease but also that many of these deaths are not only premature but also avoidable.

The efforts and resources of SHARP are directed towards both education and research.

Research is being carried out into the causes of cardiovascular disease to make it easier to prevent these conditions.

Educational facilities of a very high quality are provided for health professionals to assist doctors and nurses identify those at risk and help them reduce their risk of developing these diseases.
